The Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten. Here rest 8,301 American soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. We brought a visit to Margraten on a cold, wintry day in 2005. Margraten is a small town situated in the very south of Holland. The cemetery is laid out in the beautifull hilly landscape of South Limburg. The Reflecting Pool and the Chapel Tower on a cold wintry day in March 2005. On the right the Wall of Missing. The Chapel Tower bears the inscription: In memory of the valor and the sacrifices which hallow this soil. The entrance of the Chapel. Chapel interior. The handsome lighting crown in the Chapel was a gift from the Dutch people. The carrillon in the tower was presented by the Amvets. Three maps are engraved in the travertin walls of the Museum Room. One of the maps shows the military operations in Northwestern Europe. The Graves Area. Characteristically American oak trees. The Mourning Woman near the Reflecting Pool. Memorial Day 2005
